One Day? Or Day One?

One Day? Or Day One?

Hello, dear readers! I am beyond thrilled to reconnect with all of you through my blog. It feels like coming home after a long and transformative journey. This week, as I was prepping for the launch of the new craft website, I did a little digging and stumbled upon my original blog from way back in September of 2007.

Ah, The Domestic Briefcase. It was my online journal for many years, and I posted everything. I mean EVERYTHING. I’m almost embarrassed to even claim it as my writing. Thankfully, I’ve learned a bit about internet etiquette since then, and hopefully, my family will someday forgive me for all that ridiculousness. I’ve even contemplated deleting the whole thing—of course, that would require knowing the password and how to access it. Considering I can’t even remember the password I use daily–now, the chances of me getting that lucky are, well… slim… to none.  – Thank you old age! Despite the oversharing, I’m grateful for those old posts as they document all our good times and not-so-great times, leaving NOTHING to the imagination. (Again, girls, please forgive me.)  It also shows all of the crafting endeavors through out the years.

The intention of my claim to this little corner of the internet will be quite different. For one, my life is quite boring in comparison to that of a young mom with two beautiful little girls. I, of course, still have two beautiful girls, but they’re off living their own lives and don’t need Mom to document their day-to-day activities anymore. Did they ever, though?

I will, however, continue to share my love of crafts, of art, my fascination with DIY projects, and the ramblings of life in general. I’ve enjoyed looking back through all my previous card creations. As I’ve grown as a human and a crafter, I’ve noticed my style has evolved as well. I used to be all about staying within the proverbial lines of dos and do-nots and was more of a follower than an innovator.  I must follow this trend or that one.  Surely the world will combust if I do not post to my blog daily and again…obviously I felt like the people NEEDED to know everything.  Ha!  I was an influencer back before influencing was a cool.  I am guessing that the few hundred people that did follow me, were impressed.

I can’t say I’m a big ol rebel now, but I do still enjoy creating.  I love doing things “my way” with what I have and feeling the freedom to do so.  I love sharing as much as I can.  I am not really interested in keeping up with “The Tim Holtzes.” I’m not good at following the latest fads, and I definitely don’t have the latest gadgets, but I adore what I do and love that it puts me in the midst of so many fantastic people.

So whether you love to craft, love to look at crafts, or have vaguely heard the term “craft” before, I’m glad you’re here and can’t wait to enjoy this adventure with you!

Isn’t this bear just the CUUUUUUTEST!?  As you can see I kinda cut the space between his back side and his arm to make the candles appear like they are tucked up under his arm.  I thought it was just a super fun way to make his say “BIRTHDAY”.  I am always kinda at a loss of what to do with the random little parts of stamp sets that come with the main features.  For instance, this bear has candles.  Sure I could make a background…but what else?  Anyways—-I am happy with him.  Fun stuff.Bottom of Form

I’m Becky

Hello! I’m a girl living in the Pacific Northwest who loves all things that sparkle. Crafting and DIY projects have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Creativity runs in my family, with talents ranging from hand-sewn clothing and décor to intricate leatherworks, oil paintings, and even horseshoe creations.

One of my fondest childhood memories is being mesmerized by the “chow wagon” my grandpa crafted from the bed of an old pickup truck. It was neat, tidy, and ready for the next camping trip. Perhaps that’s where my love of organizing began. I’ve always had a desire to make things “look good.” As an adult, I’ve enjoyed transforming our homes into spaces that truly embrace and reflect us, whether we were renting or owning.

Now that my girls are grown and I find myself in a new era of life, I can focus even more on creating. Some of you might remember my old blog, The Domestic Briefcase, from what feels like a hundred million years ago! My blogging style has evolved since then; I no longer feel the need to share every little detail about my life. I doubt you’re interested in knowing what I had for breakfast or that I stopped by the thrift store on my way home. Instead, I hope this blog will be a place you visit often to see my projects and creations.

Thank you for stopping by, and I look forward to sharing this journey with you!
