Lately, I’ve been my own personal nemesis. Here I am, knee-deep in school, absolutely loving my studies. But oh man, finding the discipline to sit down, watch the videos, do the homework, read the docs, and stay on task has been like trying to herd cats. The simple question –Why, you ask? Well, I’ve already forked over the cash for the course, so the money’s gone. It would be awesome to finish the certifications and start bringing some of that back in would be fantastical. The work’s not rocket science; it just takes time. So why am I stuck in this never-ending hamster wheel of procrastination? That’s the million-dollar question I grapple with daily. For now, I am parked on “I CAN’T” – for no other good excuse other than there’s a cloud in the sky?
In the crafting world, I hear a LOT of, “I CAN’T make cards because I don’t have the craft supplies. No rubber stamps, no craft paper, no colored pencils, no markers, yada yada yada.” Well, guess what? Today’s cards are all about simple cardstock, Crayola pencils, and a few sparkly rhinestones. Trust me, you can do it. And you should! Letter writing and sending snail mail hugs is a dying art, and it’s a tragedy to see it fade away. My cards might not contain poetic masterpieces, but I believe God uses those little paper hugs to land exactly where they’re needed, right on time. It’s like divine paper airplane delivery.
The great “panty-demic” (yes, I went there) taught us to be super creative in staying connected. Humans are social butterflies by nature, and it’s a bummer to see so many folks turn into hermits. If my cards can break through someone’s shell, that’s a win in my book. So grab your pencil and create something! Even if it’s a disasterpiece, the world needs more crafty interactions. Meanwhile, I’m off to crack open those textbooks and try to smash through the procrastination bubble I’ve built around myself. Don’t let your CAN’TS dictate what your life is supposed to be.
